Born in Montreal in 1981, Melissa held a pencil before she even walked. This young artist always knew how to feed her desire for creation by drawing her life in colors and light.
It’s at the age of thirteen, when she discovered Mission: Renaissance art school, that her drawing interest was transformed into a real passion for Fine Arts. There, she studied the foundations of classical drawing and painting using a variety of mediums including soft pastel and oil paint, which became throughout the years, her mediums of choice.
She also received a private certification to teach Fine Arts for youth and adults, which gave her the opportunity to teach for six years.
Her eventful life path brought her to live in Calgary where she started to exhibit and sell her soft pastel series inspired by the beautiful diversity of western Canada’s landscapes and vegetation. By being part of the artist group Calyx, Melissa was able to make one of her dreams come true: exhibit her work to the public, get noticed and be appreciated while coming in contact with other passionate artists and art lovers. The experience confirmed and engraved the interest in her heart and lit a fire that is not about to be extinguished any soon.
Now back in Montreal, Melissa is more inspired and driven than ever and she has decided to pursue an independent artist career that will allow her to consolidate her every day life with her daily urge to paint. This is how she spends most of her time actively painting for her own evolution, for the pleasure of it as well as the enrichment of other people’s lives.
